Is There Anything As Good As Tyler's Glamorous Wash For Less Money
Using a luxury laundry detergent to extend the life and performance of your fine washables is a wonderful idea. These products are made to clean tough stains while protecting the integrity and beauty of both regular and delicate fabrics. An all-purpose luxury liquid laundry detergent* is a great option for washing towels, bed linens, or clothing. But not all "luxury detergents" are created equal. As a consumer, you want to understand exactly what is in your luxury detergent and ensure that you're getting the best value and performance for your money.
Today we'll review Heritage Park Fine Laundry Detergent in comparison with Tyler Glamorous Wash Diva Signature Detergent, a popular "luxury" detergent. Both of these products are made to work in all temperature water; can be used in both an HE and regular washing machine on any wash cycle; and are intended for all-purpose washing of clothing and linen. However, Heritage Park yields many more loads per bottle; is formulated with cleaning enzymes to boost performance; is hypoallergenic; and is friendly to the environment and animals. Let's take a closer look.
Heritage Park Fine Laundry Detergent, Fragrance-Free
Heritage Park is a liquid detergent made with a proprietary blend of powerful cleaning enzymes to remove dirt and stains while preserving and restoring the natural beauty of fine linens, delicates, and luxury bedding. Along with being 100% biodegradable and fragrance free, Heritage Park has also been tested by a third-party lab (AMA Laboratories) to be hypoallergenic as well as dermatologist and pediatrician tested. It contains no harsh chemicals (sulfates, phosphates, chlorine bleach, or brighteners) and is certified cruelty free with no animal testing by Leaping Bunny. The plant-based ingredients are organic and are listed on the bottle and website, where they are explained in detail. The Heritage Park Laundry Essentials company exclusively manufactures detergents and laundry essentials.
- 100% biodegradable
- Hypoallergenic (independently certified by outside lab)
- Dermatologist and pediatrician approved
- Certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny
- Proprietary enzyme blend of stain removers
- No harsh chemicals (sulfates, phosphates, chlorine bleach, or optical brightener)
- Plant-based ingredients listed/explained on bottle
- Manufactured by laundry detergent company
Tyler Glamorous Wash Diva Signature Detergent
Made by Tyler Candle Company, Glamorous Wash allows candle fans to enjoy their "favorite scents throughout the day and night." It promises to "clean effectively yet remain gentle" on delicate fabrics such as "linens, lingerie, and fine fabrics." Instructions say to shake the bottle before using it. It is made without phosphates but otherwise, the ingredients are not listed on the website or the bottle. The website sells many scented products such as sachets and signature scented candles. We tested the DIVA scent, which is a heavy mix of fruits, florals, aromatic chocolate, and amber.
- Made without phosphates
- Ingredients not listed on bottle (or website)
- Not clear if biodegradable
- No animal testing but not outside verified
- Not hypoallergenic or free of dyes
- Manufactured by candle company as brand extension
- Heavily scented
Comparing Performance of Heritage Park with Tyler Glamorous Wash Diva
Let's begin with cost: Tyler Glamorous Wash is significantly more expensive than Heritage Park. A bottle of Tyler yields ten loads, at a hefty cost of nearly $3.00 per load (regular and HE use the same amount), which is between two and three times the cost of Heritage Park, depending on whether your machine is regular or HE.
It's also difficult to discern whether clothes washed in Tyler Glamorous Wash are getting clean, because the Diva scent is very overpowering; we assume that is by design for fans of the scent. Heritage Park left our mildly soiled clothing clean and smelling fresh, even though the original formula contains no added scent (note: a scented version of Heritage Park is available). When it comes to towels, Tyler Glamorous Wash left behind a very strong scent but did not necessarily get them clean or fluffy; in fact, the towel nap was actually down a bit after washing with Tyler, as if it had been coated. In contrast, Heritage Park got towels super clean and left them noticeably soft and fresh smelling. This is due to Heritage Park's proprietary blend of enzymes that clean towel fibers while allowing them to retain their innate softness and absorbency.
It's important to remember that Tyler Glamorous Wash Diva is made by the Tyler Candle Company, as a brand extension of their popular candle scents. Heritage Park is made by a laundry detergent and accessories company founded with the sole mission of helping customers care for fine fabrics. Heritage Park embodies a commitment to transparency and to being friendly to the environment and animals. Along with containing a powerful blend of cleaning enzymes (not found in Tyler), Heritage Park is biodegradable, septic/grey water safe, and made from organic and plant ingredients. While Tyler Glamorous Wash is free from phosphates, Heritage Park is also free from sulfates, chlorine bleach, and brighteners. Heritage Park is hypoallergenic and made entirely without animal testing, and independently certified for both. Heritage Park ingredients are listed and explained on the bottle; Tyler does not list ingredients on the bottle or website.
- Heritage Park is a much better value for the money (half the cost per load)
- Tyler Glamorous Wash Diva is overpoweringly scented, hard to tell if clothes are clean
- Heritage Park contains cleaning enzymes and performs significantly better on towels
- Tyler is a candle company; Heritage Park is a fine fabric care and accessories company
- Heritage Park is environmentally friendly, biodegradable, contains plant-based ingredients
- Heritage Park free from phosphates, sulfates, chlorine bleach, and brighteners
- Heritage Park is independently certified to be hypoallergenic and free from animal testing/cruelty

*Liquid laundry soap is preferable to a detergent pod, bar soap, or powder detergent. We also recommend skipping fabric softener, which can cause soap scum to build up on fabric fibers, particularly towels.
